In September 1997,
DCSL acquired the controlling interest of Balangoda Plantations
Ltd. These debentures were converted to fully paid shares in
December 1998. [ and DCSL now holds 43% of issue capital of
Balangoda Plantations Ltd.]
The principal activity of the Company is the cultivation and
processing of tea and rubber. The Company has 16 tea estates,
6 tea / rubber estates and 1 rubber estate in three districts
of Sri Lanka - Badulla, Balangoda and Ratnapura. The cultivated
land consists of 5,400 hectares under tea and 1,900 hectares
under rubber..
